WHITE MANES

Horses of Camargue

Since prehistoric times, the semi-feral horses of the Camargue have survived
on the unforgiving wetlands of the Rhône delta in Southern France.

The hardy, intelligent, and romantic Camargue is one of the oldest breeds in the world.

These horses are now protected by the French Government, bred and trained by the gardians.

Cloaked in white, their long manes caressed by the windpowerful limbs and thoughtful, deep-set eyes.

The Camargue is a land of salt sea spray and broad, marshy plains.

It is a wild, indifferent, and archaic place, but here, and only here, can you encounter this rare and majestic sight.

The ancient horses of the Camargue are raw power transposed against the water line.

Unrestrained, impetuous, and dynamic.

Captured on film, the fervid beauty of this mythical equine race provides a fascinating contrast with the vast desolation of the marshes.
